A historical petroleum release from above-ground storage tanks (USTs) at the Indian Health Service’s Pine Ridge Reservation Road Shop impacted soil and groundwater. This included groundwater users (wells) near the shop. After the initial site evaluation and investigation of the storage tanks, AET’s Environmental Group prepared and implemented a Corrective Action Plan.
An aggressive soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparging system significantly reduced the footprint of the petroleum contaminated groundwater plume. Remediation was completed, and the site is in long-term monitoring for nearby groundwater users.
In collaboration with tribal, state and EPA officials, AET helped remediate a sensitive site and protect nearby groundwater users.
