Indian Health Service Turtle Mountain Hospital Remediation Turtle Mountain, North Dakota

Indian Health Service Turtle Mountain Hospital Remediation Turtle Mountain, North Dakota

At the Indian Health Service’s Turtle Mountain Hospital, there was a historical petroleum release from above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) that impacted soil, groundwater and surface water. After the initial evaluation, AET’s Environmental Group prepared and implemented a Remedial Plan Design to address impacted surface water and soil. Additional subsurface assessment was also performed to address groundwater impacts.

AET not only assisted the Indian Health Service in assessing and cleaning up a major petroleum release, but we also helped them upgrade their facility and develop procedures to reduce the potential/impact from future releases. After reviewing the ASTs, AET recommended facility upgrades and prepared a Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan.

The success of the project required cooperation and closure letters from tribal, state and EPA officials.
